Welcome to FTC

“FIRST Tech Challenge students learn to think like engineers. Teams design, build, and code robots to compete in an alliance format against other teams. Robots are built from a reusable platform, powered by Android technology, and can be coded using a variety of levels of Java-based programming.”

Teams are formed at our two middle schools: North Hills and South Hills. Typically teams have up to 10 students and meet 2-3 times per week at the High School Shop at Franklin & Square Lake until late fall 2025. Then the program will move to the old Lone Pine Elementary School which is being converted into the new Robotics Center. Each team will compete in 2 regional events and possibly the state and world championships. The season runs from August/September through December.

Parent coaches and other volunteers are needed to run this program. Training is provided. All volunteers will need to have a background check by the district.
